It has certainly already been said here (by me or others) but people who like Kukeiha Club happy-melodic-funk, like their joyful shooter tunes, the Tokimeki Memorial stuff and most of their arrange work, should really check the inspiration sources for this fuzion style, namely Japanese groups like T-Square, Casiopea or Jimsaku.
Note that Casiopea and T-Square only perform instrumental music. In fact the guitarist of T-Square (Masahiro Andoh) produced the first Kukeiha Club non-VGM album (and maybe more), also he composed the great Gran Turismo 1 & 2 soundtracks and some of the Arc the Lad music. If i talk about it right now, it's because i recently grabbed a DVDs set of Casiopea and T-Square playing live together, simply named : Casiopea VS T-Square And damn it's great, so refreshing, so joyful, it's really cool to see those guys playing because they're so happy when they perform. ![]() Also the tunes selection is very good to me, not much mellow tunes, rather fat-groovy ones, the most well-known work of both band is here (yeah "Truth", the cult F1 anthem from T-Square! ), also the arrangements are fine (the 2 bands play together on the 2nd DVD!) and there are nice surprises (drums solos, bass solos). The DVD itself is a lesson about how live concerts should be filmed, mixed and produced, it respects every musicans and many tunes got 3 angles of video. Here is the tracklist of the tunes played (with some streaming bits of video) : http://www.geneon-ent.co.jp/music/vs/list.html So if you'd have liked to see some Kukeiha Club music live, i think you'd really enjoy it too. ![]()
