This album is doubly atypical:

Rakugaki Oukoku (ZTTL-0057)

First off, it's a Taito album. Taito music is generally odd.

Second, it is similar to Chrono Cross and Zwei!!, which is odd for Taito because it sounds almost normal.

I have greatly enjoyed the atypical music by Taito over the past few years and I never expected anything similar to Chrono Cross coming from them.

The Rakugaki Oukoku OST is an interesting experience. It also comes with a pencil, which is appropriate. (I believe it translates as "Scribble Kingdom".)

It lists Zuntata as the composer, which is obvious. But which Zuntata member(s)?

I think the soundtrack was composed by TAMAYO and Sayoko.
Here is a description (translated with BarbelFish) for the album I found over at Taito's site:
"As for composer of game BACKGROUND MUSIC member " TAMAYO " of ZUNTATA (representative work " ray " series) with new " Sayoko " (representative work: " Super puzzle hob Lu " " stunt typhoon"). As for the BACKGROUND MUSIC which adhered to the sound recording with the raw musical instrument only the famous musical work which exceeds the framework of the game music."

I tried out the samples, it does sound odd, but indeed interesting. It doesn't seem like it is inspired-by-Mistuda, but then again, I've only listened to the samples..

I've never heard of any thing from Sayoko, it was mentioned
he(?) did the music for " Super puzzle hob Lu " and " stunt typhoon", have you hear of any of them?

Well, first and foremost, ZWEI!! is atypical Falcom music. Xenosaga is atypical for Mitsuda... the list goes on.

As for atypical atypical... hmm. I can't really think of any. Probably a lot of the old Namco soundtracks are atypical to begin with. Rave racer is pretty good though, I like it.

That would be Sayoko Ueda, of Super PUZZLE BOBBLE (silly. :P) and Stunt Typhoon and Tamayo Kawamoto (a relatively well known Zuntata composer) of Ray Force series, most notably.

Cool. I may have to check that one out some time. Anyway, some of my most favorite atypical music comes from the Namco RPG Tales of Destiny. It's rare to hear such upbeat music in an RPG, so I never expected something like it before. Aerial City alone is worth having the game for.

What I've heard of PoPoRoGue is pretty cool in an atypical sense too. It sort of reminds me of something I heard from the Shining Wisdom soundtrack, with some of crazy, almost psychedelic sounding songs that are almost completely unpredictable.
