I added 2 new albums to the briefcase.
I saw the request for Lennus, but decided against it for now.
I did add Dracula New Classic, though.

I'm curious as to what setting these are encoded with.
From looking at it, I think it's just LAME with and ABR of 160.

Lame VBR at 160 kbps. It's set so that it can never drop below 160 kbps, but can definitely go higher.
I didn't know one could set the bottom for a VBR, but exact audio copy lets me do it.

Heh, I didn't even notice the mp3s. I was mostly checking out the scans.

Are there mp3's of the featured album covers, or just the 2 discs in the "briefcase"? I'd really love to hear New Classics at some point...

Are you serious? I thought I would waste my time by uploading Dracula New Classic. I thought that album had saturated the game music scene by now.
The album covers are just some selections which I find to be particularly good - examples of what I commonly listen to. I will change them from time to time.

I have a quick request for you, Jodo.
I know you have that Lennus 3" promo cd thing in your list, if you could encode it, I'd appreciate it. I haven't seen mp3s of it anywhere, nor have I seen it for sale anywhere in the years I've been searching. I enjoyed the arranged track from Lennus II on OGC whatever, and the music for Paladins Quest for the SNES was okay, so I'm curious to hear this. Don't care what quality you put it, just something to hear it.
Anything's appreciated.

Say, thank you for putting up that Konami live album. Do you know what the catalogue number is for it?

Er, actually I was serious. I'm not much of an ftp enthusiast, what with my puny 56k and all. So I haven't been "saturated" quite yet. Maybe I'll delve into some of the SD members' ftp sites this week. Say Jodo, what have you been buying these days? After all, you used to spend way more on vgm than anyone else I know...unless you've cut back?

You're welcome. The catalog # is KICA-1053. It's disc one from the third Konami Special Box. They're not actually called special boxes, but they are so similar to Falcom's Special Boxes that it makes more sense to me to call 'em that.
There are a total of 4 Konami Special Boxes. Some material is redundant and some just plain sucks. That live cd from '91 is my favorite. You'll be seing more material from them in the future.

I have not cut back. In fact, I'm still buying cd's from Kahori and Jerold. And I still buy new releases from CDJapan. The only difference between "now" and "then" is that now I don't place supermassive bids on ebay anymore.
I was like a black death plague to the other bidders on ebay - but it cost me a fortune. The only ebayer that frightened me was coriander. I imagine that he had other bidders pissing in their pants.
Thankfully, I had finished my crazy bidding by the time slink_man and valentwang jumped on ebay. If all 3 of us had gone at it, that would just have been nuts.
The main thing I buy other than vgm is science fiction books.
Oh, great selection you've put online Jodo. :)
Jodo, you love this Street Fighter 2 arrange album that much ?
I find it quite slow on lots of tracks, i would have prefered faster arrangements ... But anyway the guitarist is great ! :)

Thanks for posting those Jodo Kast. I didn't even know some of those existed.
Considering the date this was posted i think i'm double-lucky to get it ^^. thanx a lot !! First i thought that the 2 were strange choices of cds to put online but now i love them both ^^. The dbz album really surprised me ! Far from what you usually expect from a DBZ ost :) .Will you update the site or was it a "one shot" ?

I was wondering about this, but could never figure it out. Where does one change the setting?

With the -b bitrate command line.
It's not really recommended, altpreset standard sets the minimum bitrate at 128, and 32 for silence anyway. If the frame only needs 128, there's no point encoding it to 160. It's really not going to sound better, and it's just wasting space.
the command would be
--alt-preset standard -b 160
I think that would work, I'm not sure if -b 160 overrides the minimum bitrate in the preset or vice versa.

Do you pay for that 100MB of space on your Yahoo Briefcase account? =O

That's what I thought! Hence, why I haven't bothered to look into changing it from the way I have it now. Oh well, it was just my curiosity at work again... ;)
Either way, thanks for the detailed explanation!
